Retirement in the Age of Longevity

Speaker:

Christian Mattenley
The Mattenley Group

Christian Mattenley is lead Portfolio Manager and Wealth Advisor for the Mattenley Group. His team of highly-accredited professionals provides total wealth solutions to the families of successful business owners, professionals and retirees. Christian is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP).

Having started his career on Bay Street nearly 25 years ago, Christian has worked with some of the industry’s most successful investors and advisors. He has acquired extensive experience in financial planning, portfolio management and security-specific financial analysis.

This unique background provided Christian an opportunity to “look inside” the operating structure and portfolio management capabilities of successful wealth management practices. He gained insight into what works and doesn’t, and what attributes distinguish successful investors.  You will often hear Christian say that of all the costs associated with investing, behavioural ‘costs’ are by far the least noticeable, yet the most punitive.

To explore solutions related to this insight, Christian went back to school to better understand how individuals and groups make decisions. After being awarded a Master’s degree in Behavioural Science from the London School of Economics, Christian was invited to partner with one of Scotia Wealth Management’s most experienced advisors. The experience was practical and enlightening, providing an unexpected mentorship that has influenced Christian to this day.

Christian maintains a commitment to lifelong learning. He is an active volunteer with the Financial Planning Standards Council of Canada and is the current president of the CFA Society Victoria.

Christian uses his unique combination of knowledge, expertise and emotional awareness to support clients at critical moments with a personalized approach and experience.
